Announcement

Founded in 2001, Fujian Baofeng Electronics Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise engaged in the research and development, production, and sales of handheld walkie-talkies and their accessories. We are one of the major manufacturers of wireless communication equipment in the world. BAOFENG insists on creating value for customers with continuous technological innovation and wins the trust and cooperation of global customers with its ever-increasing innovation capability, the spirit of quality improvement, and the delivery capability of solid industrial chains. "BAOFENG" is one of the professional and high-quality brands of walkie-talkies that are renowned at home and abroad.

We have never marketed or sold our walkie-talkies for use in war in any country. These principles have always guided our development and we re-emphasize them in light of recent developments.

We are also aware of various reports that our walkie-talkies have been widely used in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine as an essential communication tool in wartime. We need to point out that we cannot affect their circulation once our walkie-talkies are sold. Throughout the world, BAOFENG does not market or sell our walkie-talkies for use in warfare. We have never disseminated that our radios can be used as a means of communication in wartime, or pursued these commercial opportunities. We are clearly opposed to war and we love peace. We take regulatory compliance very seriously and emphasize to our distributors, resellers and other business partners that we may not sell BAOFENG radios to customers who explicitly plan to use them for war purposes.

It is important for BAOFENG that we convey the way we think the radio technology should not be used, because we have always been very clear about how it should be used. We are proud that our walkie-talkies are widely used in public safety, transportation, water conservancy, railway, manufacturing, construction, service, and other industries. They are used for communication, command, and dispatch among group members, improving communication efficiency and rapid response ability to deal with emergencies. People are also starting to use our walkie-talkies more and more when traveling and shopping. We use radio technology to help people in different areas to gain the ability to communicate more easily.

In the future, BAOFENG will further improve its comprehensive strength and competitiveness, explore and innovate, and provide more efficient, convenient, and perfect services to users worldwide. It will remain committed to leading the development of the industry and meeting the ever-changing challenges in the global communication field.

Some pretty good comments about the progression of Baofeng radios on the open market and the repeated uses of Baofeng radios by Russian soldiers in Ukraine, which are super easy for Ukrainian troops to find in “fox Hunts”. Baofeng could pick up where Xiegu G90 and GoHeTec PMR 171 with a 120 watt version of these radios with built in SDR and built in tuners for 6m-160m that also includes Compass and GPS along with APRS. What would be even nicer would be to have 2m,220 MHz and 70cm to make it a complete “shack in a box” version for military and EmComm communications uses but easy to program manually without a computer in the field.

What would make this even better would be to go from DMR to C4FM in their digital formats. It would be nice to have FLDigi built into the menu of these rigs for emergency EmComm communications since disasters have become disastrous than ever before.
I also love the idea of using TNC flush mounted connectors verses BNC to SMA to SO239, especially when it comes to the use of Abbree Antennas. I have a 27 mhz with a BNC male for my PMR 171 for 10,11,12 and 15 meters and one in TNC for 2 meters and 70 cm.
I see more and more radios being designed for GMRS along with the normal 2m and 70cm also.
This is a great time for Baofeng to expand it’s research and design to compete against the American “big 3” ie; ICOM, Yaesu and Kenwood, who appear to think that making transceivers as big as kitchen sinks is better for travel to do POTA and SOTA’s, not even close! 🤬
The Amateur Radio community has been begging these “Big 3” to invest in Q-Tips so they can hear and understand that it’s almost the 22nd century and they are still building and designing 10-20 lbs transceivers instead of 3-6 lbs transceivers that are capable of producing 100-120 watts of power in their small compact sizes such as the FT-891 but missing the tuner and the SDR Waterfall. I can’t recall whether it has C4FM or not but C4FM from my own rigs that I own, the FTM-200DR and my FT-991A, in which C4FM can be used on Simplex and can operate my MMDVM Zumspot very easy.
Example, take a close look at the Quansheng TK11, a handheld radio that can transmit on VHF/UHF AND HF!
Granted that the market is still being flooded with QRP Radios. Now it’s time to start making real radios again and get back on track to making these radios smaller, more compact and more powerful, that can fit into the overhead bin of any aircraft you might be flying on to activate SOTA and POTA’s in other states and countries.
Just look at the shock the entire Amateur radio community went through just after ICOM America announced the IC-905, in which everyone thought it was going to be the 100 watt version of the IC-705 and about time too!
ICOM’s biggest mistake ever and it was bigger than the kitchen sink in my Hawaiian condo and nothing like what the IC-905 was suppose to be. Good thing I held off reserving the IC-905 because it wasn’t even close to what the Amateur radio community has been demanding for over 15 years now for a small compact 100 watt mobile rig that can fit into a carry on bag for any airlines and their aircraft. A true EmComm rig. 😢
The main reason that I love my PMR 171 is because it has a built in battery(detachable) with SDR and built in tuner with everything but the kitchen sink for once. All the antenna connectors are on the face plate and can sit in a Mollie 30L backpack without damaging the antennas and the rig itself.
If you did a survey of radio owners who own more than one rig of the same make and model, you will discover that license Ham operators own more than one Xiegu G90 or more than one of their their other models such as the X6100 and X6200 because of the SDR and built in tuners, which seem to be the best among mobile radio manufacturers.
I believe Baofeng is on the right path now and the “Big 3” better start buying Q-Tips…🤔

Digital Dreamer

I have recently purchased 2 UV-5G and 2 GM21 radios. I am excited to try them out and hope that programing is easy, especially for local fire, police medical etc.
Thanks for the good pricing and hope the tariffs
Do not effect the future pricing.
Peace Out!

I really appreciate your honest commitment to NOT supporting war of any sort. All wars are government boondoggles, terrible for markets, people and prosperity.

Thank you Thank you Thank you.

You guys make great products when looking at it from a cost-benefit analysis, and of course as a result there will be some proliferation of your company products in warzones.

Afghanistan was a great example of that. As a cryptolinguist, aka translator or interpreter, I would listen for ICOM (enemy chatter) and determine what I could analyze to the leadership of whatever task unit I was with. Those guys used low-cost, CB/HAM style radios, lucky for us, without any frequency-hopping ability to be programmed, making eavesdropping a breeze. Not to mention that Baofeng radios don’t have that function, I wouldn’t lose sleep as a Baofeng employee about where the products end up. WOKE culture makes everyone so damn sensitive. Realistically, terrorists, or freedom fighters, depending on what your perspective is, would frequently use the gear that was low cost, and met functional requirements – again, take it as a compliment that your radios are not necessarily “combat grade,” or milspec, but they are in a warzone in a bad time of year, and they are working.

PC statements aside, as a businessman, I would consider this to be a PR boon rather than a need to post a company statement with this tone. Spin this documentation of what Baofeng radios are being used, and consider this field testing – on someone else’s dime and time – from which to market to the armed services of US and US allied countries. PRC-152s and 148s were a pain in the … to program, update, set freqs for FH mode, and sometimes the knobs wouldn’t work well in the winter, and some antenna didn’t work as well as others. Let’s see if Baofeng products can take this Russo-Ukrainian war as a case study. Pragmatically speaking, of course.

I probably wouldn’t say this if I hadn’t come to your site today to learn more about the products, licensing, etc. and saw the company homepage covered with this posting. You guys have a huge opportunity here. If I was COO, I’d posture or orient my next business development plan by focusing on a Law Enforcement / Military division, and begin marketing with all the data you can collect from the current war in Ukraine, and other conflict areas/zones where your products are utilized by whomever.

You can’t control straw buyers exporting to Ukraine, but if you develop a Law Enforcement / Military division, you have now created a possible giant revenue stream / sales channel, and simply need to be registered with GSA. My 2 cents…

Baofeng products are the best value for dollar in terms of amateur radio hand held transceiver and two way mobile communications. I returned to the hobby about 5 years ago after a long hiatus. Your excellent radios made it possible; affordable, convenient, user friendly and great quality.
Please keep me updated on new releases and promotions. Thank you, Baofeng!!

I like the new website!
It appears you guys are going further with firmware and technology enhancements with more PC software and radio firmware.
Great job and thanks for all you do!
